One of the first hotels built at Chichén-Itzá,
and one of the world’s first within an archaeological site,
The Mayaland Lodge is as much a landmark as El Castillo, the
towering pyramid of Equinox fame. Reminiscent of the
hacienda nobility of a century ago, the property’s genteel
hospitality and old-fashioned charm is a legacy enhanced by
the addition of every amenity a guest could want.
The Mayaland Lodge sits on 100 acres of
beautifully landscaped gardens (the largest of any hotel in
the Land of the Maya, Mexico and the Caribbean) in the heart
of the archaeological park, with its own entrance to the
Maya temples. Individual, dual and three-unit villas are
nested among trees and flowers of the beautifully landscaped
hotel. Hand-carved mahogany woodwork and delicate stained
glass compete for attention with the exotic birds and
butterflies that are perennial resident guests of our
gardens. The Villas all have large shaded terraces and
verandas, a perfect place for relaxing after a day among the
Mayan temples. Besides, clustered around secluded swimming
pools, the 39 bungalows seem an extension of the gardens in
which they are located. Built in traditional Mayan style
with wood, stone and thatch roofs equipped with all the
amenities of the main house, they were specially created for
guests wishing to commune with nature.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
The Mayaland Lodge is a step beyond the Mayaland concept of
upscale accommodations in a traditional setting. The lodge
offers total immersion in the Yucatan-Maya experience: an
enclave of untamed nature in the shadow of ancient
Chichén-Itzá, thatch-roofed bungalows that seem an extension
of the landscape
AMENITIES:
How much can you do in one day? The grounds of the
Chichén-Itzá archaeological park are adjacent to our
property, and our private guides will give you the insider's
perspective on the great Maya civilization. Nighttime sound
and light shows, in English and Spanish, present a dramatic
interpretation of the pyramids and their story. Shuttle
buses will transport you in comfort to the nearby city of
Mérida, the beautiful "White City" with its elegant
buildings and gardens and exciting marketplace.

RESTAURANTS:
Dining at The Lodge
is a unique experience. The restaurant’s a la carte menu
includes Mexican classics, international standbys and a
selection of regional cooking - a cuisine so different from
"traditional" Mexican fare it might be from another country.
Yucatecan cooks are adept at blending herbs and spices into
a range of sauces and sassy marinades. Regular menu changes
keep things interesting. Regional Yucatecan cooking is a
world apart from tacos and fried beans one generally
associates with Mexico. The Yucatecans take pride in being
different, and so they are.
The kitchen takes its fruit and herbs, and many of its
vegetables straight from the garden; its no wonder the
results are so delightful.
Their cuisine depends heavily on turkey and pork, rare
spices, Mayan cooking techniques and quirky love of peas and
olives.
