THE JOURNEY OF
LESS LUGGAGE
EL SANTUARIO RESORT AND SPA, STATE OF MEXICO |
|
Everything there is simply order and beauty, luxury, |
|
peace and sensual indulgence. |

Charles Baudelaire (1821 – 1867) |

Travel can be a journey within your
self, a discovery of new facets of the mind and spirit. When
closeness to nature and natural beauty are the core remedies and
ingredients in a stay, you have made a journey of less luggage,
mental luggage.
As a unique sanctuary of its kind, El Santuario Resort and Spa,
Valle de Bravo, in the State of Mexico, sits on top of a quartz
mountain, overlooking a glimmering lake, in a setting where
nature paints the canvas. You will come to realize, that the
world is still this beautiful.

 |
After an early gourmet breakfast in
Mexico City, a car with driver/guide is waiting to take you to
Valle de Bravo; Switzerland transported to Mexico, or was it the
other way around. Maybe the biggest surprise when leaving this
world metropolis is being immediately met by a nature of
spellbinding beauty encompassing Mexico City.
Toluca (Toluca de Lerdo,) capital of the State of Mexico, is our
stop on the short drive to El Santuario Resort and Spa. In
Toluca, history stands tall like a wall, bearing testimony to
rule of Aztecs, conquering by the Spaniards, evangelization,
Colonial life, to name a few fundamental periods. The city is
second only to Mexico City in number of museums. Toluca is also
the city in Mexico at the highest elevation, 2680 meters above
sea level. It is called La Bella (The Beautiful One) due to the
French neoclassical architecture. |
|
Our guided stop (three hours)
focuses on life seeing and sightseeing, with few, but in-depth
and select visits: The Cosmovitral Botanical Garden (one of the
most important of its kind in the world,) the Zócalo, or Plaza
de los Mártires, the colonial-era churches El Templo de la Santa
Veracruz and La Iglesia del Carmen, and one of the most ancient
ex-convents still preserved, La Iglesia de la Merced (the
religious order of Los Mercedarios.) |
 |
 |
The last leg of the journey
continues through the State’s varied landscapes; pine forests,
fertile and green valleys; passing lakes, rivers and mountains.
Valle de Bravo (previously also known as Temascaltepec, “Steam
Shower Mountain”) unfolds and it is here, on the shores of Lake
Avándaro that the unique El Santuario Resort and Spa sits as an
integrated part of flora and topography, on top of healing
quartz. Sixty four luxury suites and installations, including a
spa in the sky rise grandly in front of you.
At this oasis for body and soul where spirituality reigns, to be
taken into the bosom of nature, with luxury, comfort and
pampering, is the key concept. Your stay of four days and three
nights, will give the word “sophistication” a whole new meaning. |
