DAY ONE:
México, arrival and transfer
Arrival to
México City. Transfer from the Benito Juárez International
Airport to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.
Overnight in México City**:

DAY TWO:
México City
Long breakfast at the
hotel. Afterwards, we head towards the southern part of México
City, and arrive at the hanging gardens and the tranquil waters
of the Xochimilco Canals, the last traces of the Aztec era,
where we will be enjoying a calm trip in a traditional punt or
pre-Hispanic boat. Lunch.
End of the day’s program. Enjoy the evening and afternoon hours,
a great opportunity to savor some of México City’s exciting and
cosmopolitan offers.

DAY THREE:
México City– Mérida, Yucatán
Breakfast at the
hotel and transfer to Benito Juárez International Airport.
Departure for Mérida, capital of the State of Yucatán. Leisurely
sightseeing of colonial Mérida, “the White City,” including
promenades together with our guide. Lunch. Check-in at the
Presidente Intercontinental Villa Mercedes, with the highest of
standards and the best of services. Rest of afternoon and
evening at leisure, to be filled with shopping and exploring, or
nothing at all.

DAY FOUR:
Mérida, Yucatán
Breakfast at the hotel. Mérida on your own. Enjoy five centuries
of colonial charm. Mérida was founded in 1542 by the Spanish
Conquistador Francisco Montejo el Meso. The city has one of
México’s most varied cuisines.

DAY FIVE:
Mérida - Celestún,
Yucatán
Breakfast at
the hotel. Trip to and through Mayan villages until we arrive in
the Natural Reserve of Celestún (100 km,) home to pink
flamingoes, crocodiles, mangroves, coastal jungle – with boat
trip**** through magnificent nature. Seafood lunch at La Palapa,
a restaurant right on the beach. Afterwards, we head for and
check in at the pristine Eco Paraíso Xixim Hotel, itself
situated by a beach of protected beauty. Relax and explore the
facilities and the surroundings of this jewelry box of an
ecological resort. Dinner at the hotel.

DAY SIX:
Mérida, Yucatán - Champotón, Campeche
Breakfast at
the hotel. Our first destination is the archeological zone of
Uxmal, with its Pyramid of the Magician or Dwarf, the Nunnery
Quadrangle and the Temple of the Turtles. Lunch at the Uxmal
Lodge. We traverse into the State of Campeche, and reach the
state capital by the same name. Here, we explore the walled city
of colonial splendor and beauty on a guided walking tour.
Campeche hardly has its like on the coasts of Mexico, and the
city figures on UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage List of Humanity.
Parts of its history were colored by heroic and dramatic
resistance to pirates. Check in at the gorgeous Hotel Tucán Siho-Playa,
an architectural pearl, where dinner will be served. Total
distance covered on this day: 365 km.

DAY SEVEN:
Champotón,
Campeche
Breakfast and
lunch at the hotel Tucán Siho-Playa. Enjoy the facilities, the
ocean view, and the family beach. A trip to the nearby fishing
town of Champotón is a delightful option. Dinner at the local
Cenaduría Portales Restaurant in Campeche, you can’t get closer
than this to a Campechano mother’s home cooking.

DAY EIGHT:
Champotón –
Calakmul, Campeche - Akumal, Riviera Maya
Breakfast at
the hotel. Visit to Calakmul, one of the most important
archeological sites (and one of the largest cities known) in the
Mayan Empire. Lunch at the Hotel Eco Village Chicanná. Evening
check in at the Villas Akumal, with the architectural beauty of
oceanfront condominiums, facing its own beach with turtle egg
laying and hatching grounds. Peace and tranquility rules. Dinner
at the restaurant La Casa del Pescador nearby, transfer by car.

DAY NINE:
Akumal – Tulum – Cobá, Riviera Maya
Breakfast at
the Villas. We visit the Tulum archeological site in the
morning, when the sun bakes the least. A dip in the Sea of the
Antilles beneath the world known Tulum structure of “El Palacio”,
the Palace, is recommended. Lunch en-route to the archeological
site of Cobá. Afterwards, we return to the Villas Akumal in
order to prepare for an evening*** with the indigenous Maya in
the Dos Palmas Community. We will take part in meaningful and
genuine Mayan rituals, use the Temazcal (Maya hammam or sweat
hut), swim in a cenote (holy underground water hole or river)
and conclude with a dinner in the community.

DAY TEN:
Akumal – Muyil - Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya
Breakfast at
the Villas. Time to relax before we head for the Biosphere of
Sian Ka’an (“where the sun is born”) and the Muyil archeological
site, jungle path and lagoon**** (archeological and ecological
excursion.) This is an adventure of the highest degree of
integrity, with fantastic elements of nature and history,)
nicely run by the cooperative Uyo’Ochel Maya. The rest of the
day’s program takes us to Playa del Carmen (63 km,) late lunch
and dinner on your own (the Yaxche Maya Cuisine and the Oasis
Mariscos restaurants are two of many excellent options.) Chic
Playa del Carmen in Riviera Maya is perfect for shopping,
promenading and people watching.
